Humans have altered the landscape in permanent ways. We have mined out massive holes in the Earth for precious metals and drilled into the bottom of the ocean for for fuel extraction. We have created cities, cars, movies, culture, and sewage lines among other things. The climate has also been altered because of the way we have manipulated these natural resources.
Each image consists of three pictures printed on top of each other. The images are printed onto a clear, adhesive vinyl and then placed onto a clear glass pane. Each image has a picture of an event, a building, and natural elements. These photos are interpreted by the printer as the printer sees fit. These layers are just a slice of what we have created and what will eventually be left behind when the sediment settles. It’s hard to know what the people 1000s of years into the future will say or think about us. I imagine it will be similar to what we see left behind from old civilizations. A combination of mystery and fascination.
