These set of photos were taken along one street in Old Town Alexandria. This street is called King St.
It is a unique street that a lot of tourists visit for the history and the small town vibes.
The city it is located in has many accolades from various magazines naming it one of the best small towns in the country or one of the most magical places during Christmas.
This street that is the heart of the town sometimes doesn’t have that tight-knit community feel. It feels a bit fractured. The street has mostly small businesses and restaurants. Some of these places are there purely for the tourists and some are there for the residents. A lot of the residents on this street seem to be wealthy which is fitting with the name of the street. The residents also seem to be patriotic, with American flags proudly flashed throughout. This seems to be at odds with the name of the street that they live or work on. It’s all good though, because King St. presents itself as happy whole.
